13 Place du Marché aux Fromages is a building of approximately 285 m² located on one of the historic squares of Bergues, a fortified town in the French Flanders, in the Nord department. The city is renowned for its ramparts, which have been modified several times over the centuries, and for its belfry, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site as part of the Belfries of Belgium and France. The square derives its name from the cheese market that used to be held there, with Bergues being associated with a traditional soft cheese made from raw milk. The building, which overlooks the cobbled square of the old town center, was a property of Gaz de France that remained unoccupied for a long time.
