The place
Fletcher Oil Refinery, located at 24721 South Main Street, just north of Lomita Boulevard. An explosion followed by a fire caused two deaths on March 27, 1969. Decommissioned in the late 1990s and subsequently demolished, it left a vacant lot still bordered by a long row of trimmed cypress trees.
