The place
Built in 1928 to the plans of architect John Gaw Meem, using 770 ponderosa pine logs, the building was the dining hall of the Los Alamos Ranch School before becoming the community center for employees of the Manhattan Project. It is the largest of the school’s buildings still standing; it currently houses an art center.
