The place
Hackney Music Hall opened in 1901, designed by theatre architect Frank Matcham and listed as a Grade II* historic monument. Stan Laurel and Charlie Chaplin performed there before Hollywood, and the hall has since been featured in Chaplin by Attenborough, Velvet Goldmine, and Judy.
