The place
The site was occupied by the Roubaix slaughterhouse, demolished in 1978. A vocational high school was built there from December 1978 to November 1980; it now prepares students for CAP and professional baccalaureate degrees in catering and personal services. The neighboring square was renamed Place Jean-Baptiste-Clément on February 28, 1979, after the author of "Le Temps des cerises."
