The place
The market has been held informally since 1860, and officially since a prefectural decree by Eugène Poubelle in 1885 prohibiting the deposit of garbage at the gates of Paris. It has settled on the Zone, this unbuildable strip of 250 meters that surrounded the Thiers fortifications, and now occupies the avenue du Professeur-André-Lemierre, in the 20th arrondissement, beyond the périphérique. It opens on Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays.
