The place
Surrey Park designed in 1762-1763 by Lancelot "Capability" Brown around Peper Harow House, a neoclassical residence built from 1765 to 1768 according to the plans of Sir William Chambers for the Viscounts Midleton and completed around 1775. The house is classified as Grade I, the park is listed in Grade II, and the whole area retains many of the trees planted by Brown.
