The place
Times Square cinema, at the corner of Broadway and 47th Street. It opened in 1914 under the name Mark Strand Theatre on plans by Thomas W. Lamb, with nearly 3,000 seats, it was one of the very first movie palaces in Manhattan. Renamed Warner Cinerama in the 1950s to accommodate three-projector screenings, it was later split into two screens by the RKO circuit and was demolished in 1987.
