The place
Sixteen-story residential tower completed in 1969 as part of the Grand Ensemble de Beauval, the priority urbanization zone designed by urban planner Marcel Lods and his project manager Henri Beauclair — on a site where a radiant city project by Le Corbusier was abandoned after five years of negotiations. Its three-branch shape at 120 degrees earned it the nickname tripode, while its architect preferred to refer to it as a caravelle. It comprised 169 housing units and was razed on September 29, 2019, as part of the urban renewal of the area.
