  1. Busan Film Studio (Haeundae)

    Busan, South Korea

The Busan Film Commission Studio, opened in 2001 in the heart of Haeundae. Its two buildings, measuring 250 and 500 pyeong (approximately 830 and 1,650 m²), provided the longest set in the country in the mid-2010s.

The scene : On this Haeundae set, the crew reconstructed KTX trains and their intercarriage connectors: almost all the action on board was filmed here, from the journey to the confrontations with infected passengers and the negotiations among survivors.

  2. Busan Rolling Stock Depot (Beomcheon-dong)

    Busan, South Korea

Railway workshop born in 1904 as the mechanical workshop of Choryang of the Gyeongbu railway, it was renamed several times before becoming in 2009 the rolling stock maintenance unit of Korail in Busan. The Beomcheon site maintains diesel locomotives and keeps the reformed cars before their sale.

The scene : The Beomcheon depot serves as Dongdaegu station, where the train can go no further. For this climax, a KTX, Mugunghwa and Saemaul trains, along with a freight train, have been entwined on the tracks, and the survivors sneak between the cars to reach another carriage.

  3. Bujeon Station

    Busan, South Korea

The scene : A part of the stop at "Daejeon" was filmed at this station on the Donghae line: contaminated soldiers smash a glass bay and surge onto the walkway connecting the platforms, while the survivors run to escape them.

  4. Haengsin Station

    Goyang, South Korea

The scene : Haengsin is one of the five stations between which the scenes of the stop in Daejeon are distributed, where the train stops and the passengers rely on the army.

  5. Sapgyo Station

    Yesan, South Korea

The scene : For the escape from Daejeon station, elements of the KTX set were mounted on flat cars behind a diesel locomotive from the 4400 series: this is where Seok-woo and his companions jump onto the departing train. The station also provided exteriors for the attack of the contaminated soldiers.

  8. Seodaejeon Station

    Daejeon, South Korea

The scene : With Sapgyo, the Seodaejeon station served as the exterior of the Daejeon station, where the second wave of infected people crashes in.

  9. Daejeon, South Korea

The scene : First stop of the KTX: in Daejeon, the passengers rely on the army, and it is contaminated soldiers who rush at them. Two extras who played these soldiers recount having filmed at the station and on the nearby tracks.
