The scene : The place only appears in a photograph. At the McFly residence in 2015, Jennifer finds on a side table the framed snapshot of her wedding with Marty, where he is wearing a t-shirt printed with a tuxedo front. She discovers that they got married there, and the photo disturbs her.

161 North Magnolia Avenue (Monrovia)

Monrovia, United States

House built in 1905, with an area of 2,659 square feet (approximately 247 m²).

The scene : Doc and Marty drop off Jennifer, unconscious, on the porch swing, in what turns out to be a modified 1985. The DeLorean is parked in the driveway, where there is also a crashed AMC Hornet; bars close off the windows and bushes cover the house.

12511 Bailey Street (Whittier)

Whittier, United States

Pavilion of 732 square feet (68 m2) built in 1920. Its porch has been modified since filming: the steps, originally at the front, have been moved to the side. The house is adjacent to Whittier High School.

The scene : In the altered 1985, Marty discovers the devastated street, not far from the high school, and makes the mistake of stopping by Strickland's (James Tolkan). He reads the newspaper under the porch to understand the altered reality; Strickland levels his gun at him. A gang then opens fire on Strickland from a moving car, giving Marty the chance to escape. Around 0:43.

3793 Oakhurst Street (El Monte)

El Monte, United States

A 1,656 square foot (154 m²) pavilion built in 1988, located in the gated community of Arbor Oaks, which is not open to the public.

The scene : The police bring Jennifer, found unconscious in an alley where Doc had left her asleep; Marty and Doc follow her, along with old Biff. Waking up on the spot, she hides from the McFly family, hears that her future life with Marty has derailed after a car accident, then sees Douglas Needles, Marty's colleague, push him into a questionable deal that costs him his job. She tries to escape the house and faints when she encounters her 2015 double. Around 0:29.

Mount Hollywood Tunnel (Griffith Park)

Mount Hollywood Drive Tunnel, opened in 1927, approximately one hundred meters long, located halfway between the Greek Theatre and the observatory, at the junction with Vermont Canyon Road.

The scene : In 1955, Biff drives there on his way to the high school prom. Later, Marty, initially stuck in the back of his car, chases him on a hoverboard: both argue over the sports almanac from the future while Biff tries to eliminate him. About 1:13 for the car scene.

Raffinerie Valero (Wilmington)

Los Angeles, United States

Oil refinery operated by Valero. Part of the site, still vacant at the end of the 1980s, has since been built.

The scene : Stuck in the altered 1985, Marty goes there and discovers his father's grave.

Courthouse Square (Universal backlot)

Universal City, United States

Courthouse Square is a permanent set on the backlot of Universal Studios, located in Universal City, California, reproducing an archetypal small-town American square organized around the facade of a courthouse that serves as its centerpiece. This courthouse facade was built in 1948. Composed of a set of facades, the set is renowned for its versatility: a simple change of signage, storefronts, and urban furniture is enough to make it appear as an entirely different location, which has led it to appear in hundreds of productions. It is bordered to the south by "New York Street," another street set on the backlot. The fires that ravaged the backlot in 1990 and then in 2008 destroyed these neighboring sets but spared the courthouse; the square reopened on June 18, 2009. It remains one of the most iconic outdoor sets on the Universal backlot.

The scene : Three eras unfold in this film: Marty and Doc's arrival in 2015; the traversal of a desolate and altered 1985, where the central building has become the hotel-casino "Biff Tannen's Pleasure Paradise"; and then a passage to 1955, where we see the preparation for the time travel experiment.

First United Methodist Church of Hollywood

Los Angeles, United States

United Methodist Church at the corner of Franklin Avenue and Highland Avenue, in the Hollywood Heights neighborhood. The recreation hall and gymnasium were built in the early 1920s; the Gothic-style sanctuary, designed by Thomas P. Barber and partly inspired by Westminster Hall in London, was begun in 1927 and opened on March 16, 1930, for 800,000 dollars. Its steel-framed concrete structure makes it relatively earthquake-resistant. It has been designated a historic-cultural monument of Los Angeles No. 248 since December 4, 1981, under the name of First United Methodist Church of Hollywood. The large red ribbon for AIDS placed on the bell tower in 1993 was replaced by a durable version in 1996, and then repainted in 2004.

The scene : Marty goes back in 1955 to retrieve the sports almanac that Biff possesses.

1809 Bushnell Avenue (South Pasadena)

South Pasadena, United States

Craftsman-style house listed in the Inventory of Historic Resources of South Pasadena, in the Wayne/Bushnell/Fletcher district. It is the home of Biff Tannen's grandmother in the 1955 sequence of Back to the Future Part II.

The scene : The Biff from 2015 brings back his 1955 double and hands him the sports almanac brought from the future, explaining its use in the safety of the garage. Marty, posted on the other side of the street, overhears the plan and then sees him come back out.

9303 Roslyndale Avenue (Arleta)

Ordinary residential pavilion, located on a quiet street overlooking Sunburst Street, beneath a high voltage power line.

The scene : The film opens here, around the third minute, on the last scene of the first installment. Upon returning to 2015, Doc and Marty pass by after dropping Jennifer off at her house.

Whittier High School

Whittier, United States

Public high school opened in 1900, initially housed on the second floor of the old Jonathan Bailey School, with 47 students. In 1905, a new building was inaugurated at the corner of Philadelphia and Lindley, the current location of the campus; it was then named Whittier Union High School. The influx of students led to the construction in 1923 of a girls' gymnasium, an administrative building, and an auditorium. The campus is in Art Deco style. Richard Nixon (class of 1930), the 37th president of the United States, and John Lasseter (class of 1975), co-founder of Pixar, were students here. The boys' gymnasium burned down in 1998; the Perry Gymnasium that replaced it opened in 2002.

The scene : At 1:17 into the film, the 1955 sequence takes place outside, in front of the east entrance, on Whittier Avenue: Biff arrives at the dance, then Marty follows the sports almanac that passes from Biff to Strickland along the same side of the building.
