Former Benedictine monastery established on the heights of Azrou, in the Middle Atlas of Morocco, amidst a forest of cork oaks. The site has long been abandoned.
The scene : The team settled in December 2009 in this former Benedictine abbey in the heights of Azrou to create the monastery of Tibhirine, which was too risky to film in Algeria; the surrounding landscapes, between Fès, Meknès, and Azrou, complete the setting. The shooting lasted two months.
