Ørsta, Norway

The scene : A hamlet of a few houses and a small harbor, on the shore of the Norangsfjorden a few kilometers from Øye. This is where the production set up its base.

Sæbø, Norway

The scene : The school scenes were filmed at the Sæbø skule, the village school of Sæbø, on the Skuleplassen.

Øye, Norway

The scene : The exterior of the evangelical church was filmed at this address in Norangdal, in Øye.

Sæbø, Norway

The scene : The fjord that gives the film its title. The shooting lasted thirty-six days in the spring of 2025, at the foot of the Sunnmørsalpene, whose peaks drop nearly 1,700 meters straight into the water.

Ørsta, Norway

The scene : It is this narrow branch of the Hjørundfjord that Mungiu chose: a secluded arm, surrounded by mountains, much less frequented than the neighboring Geirangerfjord.
