34813 Bouquet Canyon Road (Santa Clarita)
Santa Clarita, United States
The store has been demolished: only its foundation slab and a stone wall, which enclosed the neighboring drying area, remain on the site. The site also served for the episode of Beverly Hills 90210 where the gang goes camping in Yosemite.
The scene : The film opens with a crane shot over Harold and Edna's store, situated by the roadside at the back of the canyon. We return to it later: on Bouquet Canyon Road, the gang's van veers aside to let police cars pass, which park in front of the store.
24318 Walnut Street (Newhall)
Newhall, United States
The house left this address in 1987 for the historic site of Heritage Junction. The houses across the street have been replaced by apartment buildings.
The scene : Chris and his crew come to pick up Vera: the van stops on Walnut Street, between 8th Street and Market Street, and the group crosses the street to her porch. The sequence alternates between the lines "The van's on fire!" and "She is not going.".
Kingsburry House (Heritage Junction)
Newhall, United States
House built in 1878, donated in 1987 to the Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society and relocated to the Heritage Junction site in William S. Hart Park.
The scene : Vera's house was not filmed here, but at 24318 Walnut Street, from where it was moved in 1987. This is the very building that is seen when Chris and his gang come to pick up Vera.
Green Valley, United States
Green Valley Grocery, adjacent to a restaurant that was called Green Valley's Waterhole before becoming a café. The interior has been remodeled, but the exterior has changed little, save for one door.
The scene : Shelly and Vera stop at this country grocery store. Vera deals with an unfriendly cashier, and the two friends encounter a gang of motorcyclists; they leave wondering if they are being followed.
Green Valley, United States
The scene : On the road to Higgins Haven, several shots taken from the van reveal, in the background, the house at 15313 Spunky Canyon Road, just before the grocery store. The same road appears in other driving scenes, including the "Hold on!" scene.
Santa Clarita Movie Ranch
Santa Clarita, United States
Filming ranch of about 240 acres in Haskell Canyon (Santa Clarita), formerly known as Veluzat Movie Ranch then Melody Ranch Backlot. It is owned by the Veluzat family and is only open for visits by appointment. The Higgins Haven house burned down in 2006, set on fire by a fan who had lit a fire in its fake fireplace: only the stone chimney and part of the foundations remain. The artificial pond that represented the lake is almost dry.
The scene : Higgins Haven, the family’s country house by Crystal Lake, where the group comes to spend the weekend before Jason decimates them. Rick and Chris discuss in front of the house at the beginning of the film, and Jason kills Rick near the side door. The pond standing in for the lake, with its dock, features the very first shot of Jason wearing the hockey mask; on the way in, the group nearly runs over Abel. Chris is taken far away from Higgins Haven at the end of the film.
Santa Clarita Movie Ranch (barn)
Santa Clarita, United States
Barn still standing on the ranch, directly across from the site of the former house; the surrounding wooden fence has disappeared.
The scene : The barn at Higgins Haven, in front of which Rick parks his car. Jason hides there and watches the group from inside; Fox enters as well, and it is in the hayloft that Jason hunts Chris. Chuck dies in the basement, and the final shot shows Jason's lifeless body in the barn.
