    The scene : 2 minOpening scene, in 1941: Perrier LaPadite is chopping wood in front of his dairy farm when Colonel Hans Landa arrives with his escort, searching for the Dreyfus family; he interrogates the farmer, orders the fugitives to be killed, and only Shosanna manages to escape.

    The last Prussian defensive work, built in 1888 to protect Spandau, the fortress has never been used in combat; a barracks during World War II, it remained abandoned in the border zone of the Wall until reunification. Its galleries are visited with a guide from April to October; in winter, they serve as a refuge for bats.

    The scene : 33 minIn a trench of the fort, deep in the woods, Aldo Raine and his Basterds interrogate German prisoners before scalping them; Sergeant Rachtman refuses to talk and the "Bear Jew" appears with his bat. Hugo Stiglitz's cell was filmed in the fort's galleries.

    Bistro open during the Belle Époque at the corner of Rue du Poteau, in the 18th arrondissement, whose old decor has remained almost intact. The cinema had already filmed it in "Le Mouton enragé" by Michel Deville (1974) and then in "Le Sang des autres" by Claude Chabrol (1984).

    The scene : 42 minUnder the identity of Emmanuelle, Shosanna is lighting in this bistro when the soldier Fredrick Zoller spots her through the window and tries to impress her; she discovers that this persistent suitor is a war hero celebrated by the regime.

    Berlin, Germany

    Address of Café Einstein Stammhaus, a café with elegant woodwork from which a chain of Berlin establishments was born.

    The scene : 59 minDriven there by German officers, Shosanna has lunch with Joseph Goebbels and Fredrick Zoller, who announce to her that the premiere of "Stolz der Nation" will take place in her cinema; Hans Landa then holds her back in front of a strudel and a cigarette to question her about the security of the theater.

  5. Potsdam, Germany

    The oldest large film studio complex in the world, founded in 1912 in Potsdam, the cradle of German cinema (Metropolis, The Blue Angel).

    The scene : The bulk of the film was shot in these studios in Potsdam: the interiors of Perrier LaPadite's farm, the basement tavern La Louisiane, and Shosanna's cinema, the Gamaar, were built there.

    The scene : The exterior of the Gamaar, the cinema of Shosanna destined to go up in flames at the end of the film, has been recreated in this large hall of the Babelsberg studios.

  7. Former US Headquarters (Berlin-Dahlem)

    Berlin, Germany

    Built from 1936 to 1938 according to the plans of Fritz Fuß for the Luftgaukommando III of the Luftwaffe, the complex became the American headquarters in 1945: General Lucius D. Clay directed the airlift of 1948-1949 from here, and the entire complex took its name in 1979. American troops left in 1994. Classified as a historical monument since 1995, it now houses residences, the Fluentum video art museum in the main building, and the consular section of the United States Embassy at 170 Clayallee. It also served as a setting for "Valkyrie".

    The scene : In front of one of the military buildings of the complex, Aldo Raine addresses his Basterds; inside was filmed Hitler's office, where the Führer rages against them while soldier Butz, the sole survivor of their ambush, recounts what he saw.

  8. Berlin, Germany

    Ballroom and restaurant in the Mitte district, with two dance halls and their stages, remained almost unchanged since filming. George Clooney also filmed "Monuments Men" there during the winter of 2013.

    The scene : Hans Landa, who has just captured Aldo Raine and the "Little Man" Utivich, has them taken to a small French village restaurant: against all odds, he offers Raine help in eliminating the highest-ranking Nazi officials and bringing an end to the Third Reich.

  9. Neue Straße 29 (Nauen)

    Nauen, Germany

    The scene : The facade of the tavern La Louisiane, where the meeting of the Basterds and Lieutenant Hicox with actress Bridget von Hammersmark goes wrong, stands in this alley of the old town, now named Nadine, an imaginary French village.

    The scene : Two houses down from the tavern, this facade represents the establishment where, at the end of the film, Hans Landa interrogates Aldo Raine.

  11. Officers' Casino (Kaserne Krampnitz)

    Potsdam, Germany

    Former officers' mess of the Krampnitz barracks, north of Potsdam, built by the Nazi regime starting in 1937, taken over by the Soviet army and then abandoned in the early 1990s. The building also served for the opening sequence of "Resident Evil".

    The scene : Lieutenant Archie Hicox is received in the music room of an English country house by General Ed Fenech and Winston Churchill, who let him in on the details of Operation Kino.

  12. Chemiewerk Rüdersdorf

    Rüdersdorf, Germany

    Born in 1899 as a cement factory, taken over by Preussag in 1939, the Tasdorf plant became an agricultural phosphate factory in 1950, producing the livestock feed Rükana, which was attached to the VEB Chemiewerk Coswig; it closed permanently in 1999. The abandoned site has since been used in cinema for "Stalingrad", "Monuments Men" and "Hunger Games".

    The scene : The interiors of Shosanna's cinema were reconstructed in the ruins of this former factory, in a fireproof set, to film the fire and explosion of the finale without sacrificing the built set to the Babelsberg studios.

  13. Untermarkt (Görlitz)

    Görlitz, Germany

    The Old Town Square of Görlitz, nicknamed "Görliwood" for the numerous film shoots that take place in its ancient streets, from "The Reader" to "The Grand Budapest Hotel."

    The scene : For "Stolz der Nation," the propaganda film shown in the film, the square becomes a Sicilian market: American soldiers march through before being shot, and their bodies, mannequins, pile up on the cobblestones after the massacre.

  14. Upper Market (Görlitz)

    Görlitz, Germany

    The scene : The second square of the old town is used for the "Sicilian" sequences of "Stolz der Nation," the propaganda film glorifying Fredrick Zoller.
