Plateau located at the southern end of Falls Lake, on the Universal backlot, which was home to the set of the Psycho House from 1982 in the mid-1980s — between its original location on Laramie Street Hill and its current position near Old Falls Lake.

The scene : The set of the Bates house and motel was rebuilt here for the film, on a soundstage south of Falls Lake. The house received its back facade there, and about thirty feet of the motel were constructed in solid form — the rest of the building, like the landscape beyond, is a matte painting.

Universal City, United States

Courthouse Square is a permanent set on the backlot of Universal Studios, located in Universal City, California, reproducing an archetypal small-town American square organized around the facade of a courthouse that serves as its centerpiece. This courthouse facade was built in 1948. Composed of a set of facades, the set is renowned for its versatility: a simple change of signage, storefronts, and urban furniture is enough to make it appear as an entirely different location, which has led it to appear in hundreds of productions. It is bordered to the south by "New York Street," another street set on the backlot. The fires that ravaged the backlot in 1990 and then in 2008 destroyed these neighboring sets but spared the courthouse; the square reopened on June 18, 2009. It remains one of the most iconic outdoor sets on the Universal backlot.

The scene : The backlot square serves as the center of Fairvale, the small town where Norman Bates returns to live after his confinement.

Universal City, United States

Part of the Park Lake water feature, located on the Universal backlot, separated from the main pool by the Sweet Charity Bridge added in 1969. Excavated in the early 1950s, the lake hosted Creature from the Black Lagoon in 1954, followed by a recreation of the Mississippi River with a paddleboat and wave machine, before the installation of the "Red Sea" effect in 1973. The whole was reduced in 2017.

The scene : It is in this water body of the backlot that a body is thrown.

The scene : The backlot lake is once again used in the film, twenty years after it swallowed Marion Crane's car in the first Psycho.

Universal City, United States

Universal Studios Hollywood's filming plateau covers 17,584 square feet — 157 feet long by 112 feet wide, 33 feet under the grid — equipped with a water pit and a wooden floor on a concrete slab. It notably hosted Pillow Talk (1959), The Sting (1973), and The Thing (1982), before being demolished in 2017.

The scene : Interiors of the film were shot there, on a set that has since disappeared.
