Former enamel factory Deutsche Emailwarenfabrik (DEF, formerly REKORD, founded in 1937), now the museum "Krakow under Occupation 1939-1945".

The scene : Schindler's enamel factory, the heart of the story: facade, courtyard, and workshops filmed on site (the interiors of the workshops were shot in Olkusz).

Cracovie, Poland

Large central street of the historic Jewish quarter of Kazimierz, lined with synagogues. Comprising kamienicas (residential buildings) built between 1800 and 1900, this street is classified as a real estate monument.

The scene : Kazimierz Street serves as a stand-in for Zgody Square, the main square of the ghetto: recording of the inhabitants, distribution of work cards, review by Amon Göth, and then the liquidation of the ghetto (including the death of a woman shot by an SS officer and the murder of a teenager).

The scene : The balcony courtyard of number 12 ("the most beautiful courtyard in Kazimierz," ex-inn from 1802): the SS are going up the stairs and throwing the belongings of the Jews from the balconies; Mrs. Dresner is hiding there, a woman is concealing herself under the floor, Adam is hiding another one under the stairs.

The scene : Out of respect for the historical site, Spielberg did not film at the actual Płaszów camp: a complete replica (34 barracks, 7 watchtowers, cobblestone road, and the villa of Amon Göth) was built in this disused quarry, where the interiors of Auschwitz were also recreated.

"Czerwony Dom" (the Red House), villa where the SS commander of the Płaszów camp actually resided. Built in 1934, this real estate complex is classified as a historical monument.

The scene : Historic residence of Commander Amon Göth ("the Red House"); for the scenes where he shoots prisoners from his balcony, a replica of the villa was built at the Liban quarry.
