Former royal arsenal of the British Navy in Kent, active until 1984, now a maritime museum; includes the Victorian Ropery, a rope-making facility stretching a quarter of a mile.

The scene : The arsenal turns into the port of Giza, on the Nile: after rescuing Rick from the gallows, Evelyn boards with him on the steamer that will take them to Hamunaptra, amidst merchants, sailors, and a group of American treasure hunters.

Historic film studios of Surrey, in west London.

The scene : The catacombs of the City of the Dead have been recreated in the studio: corridors dug beneath the city, a necropolis swarming with rats surrounded by a moat where human remains float, and a treasure room overflowing with gold statues.

The scene : The salons of the residence become the interior of the Cairo Museum of Antiquities, where Rick, Evelyn, and Jonathan encounter Dr. Bey and Ardeth Bay, guardians of a millenary secret, just before a solar eclipse precipitates the events.

Frensham Ponds

More than 1,000 acres of heathland and farmland around several large ponds, along the A287, approximately eight kilometers south of Farnham.

The scene : After the fire and the shipwreck, the survivors return to the shore: the large ponds of Frensham serve as the Nile for the scenes shot in the water.

The scene : The main square of Marrakech brings to life Cairo in the 1920s, especially when the two expeditions return to the city after awakening Imhotep; the production had brought in camels and horses to recreate the era.
