Rosarito, Mexico
Popotla Film Studio, located on the coast south of Rosarito (Baja California), was built in 1996 and features one of the largest filming pools in the world; it has been operated since under the name Baja Studios.
The scene : The bulk of the film was shot in this studio: a nearly life-sized recreation of the ocean liner was submerged and tilted in its giant tank for the sinking scenes.
Wreck of the RMS Titanic, resting at nearly 3,800 meters deep in the North Atlantic, about 600 kilometers southeast of Newfoundland; discovered in 1985.
The scene : The shots of the real wreck, explored underwater in the contemporary storyline, were filmed on the very site of the shipwreck, at the bottom of the North Atlantic.
