Höfn, Iceland
Fishing town in the southeast of Iceland, on the fjord of Hornafjörður, gateway to the Vatnajökull glacier; it is the native region of filmmaker Hlynur Pálmason.
The scene : Most of the film was shot around the city (40 days in the summer of 2021); it is in this area that the wooden church, which the Danish pastor Lucas comes to build, was erected.

The scene : The pastor's journey through the wild, volcanic, and soggy expanses of the southeast takes place at the foot of the immense ice cap.
