The map grows with every film people look up

A film isn’t here yet? Search for it in the CineTrotter app. We then go looking for its filming locations, and the ones we find are added here. Type “Philadelphia” in the box at the top of the screen and you land in the city where, in “Rocky”, the boxer ends his run with his arms raised at the top of the art museum’s 72 steps.

A film’s page, scene by scene

Every film has its own page, with its director, the towns where it was shot, the synopsis and a small map that places its locations to within a kilometre. For each location, the page describes the scene played out there, and when the minute is known, the locations follow the order of the film. In “Serial (Bad) Weddings”, the Verneuils’ house appears at the 13th minute, and under that heading the page names the real place, La Gentilhommière, a property in Orgeval. At the 44th minute, Laure introduces Charles to her parents at the restaurant Le Grand Colbert in Paris.

And when you open a location?

Its page describes the place and the films shot there. The one for Manhattan Bridge, opened in 1909 across the East River, lists “Crocodile Dundee” and “The Fate of the Furious”, among others. When a location stands in for somewhere else, the page says so: in “Escape from New York”, St. Louis Union Station becomes Madison Square Garden.
